“I am someone who has always been into routine… I like to know what to expect. I used to spend hours in my local gym, five to six days a week, lifting weights and training each muscle group. I first heard about CrossFit five years ago, but it was something completely different from my weightlifting routine. Crossfit involved “crazy” workouts and would push me out of my comfort zone. It was the complete opposite of routine and I didn’t like being pushed out of my comfort zone.
After moving to the Bristow area and taking several months off from the gym, I went in search of a new gym. I joined a local gym in Gainesville and tried to pick up my workout routine where I left off. I found myself completely bored and unmotivated with the weight training program I had done previously. I hit a wall and as a result I got very lax with working out and gained twenty pounds.
No girl wants to buy new clothes because her old clothes have become too small for her. I was extremely unhappy with my new look & weight gain and felt so out of shape. I knew I had to try something different and I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone. I joined CrossFit Manassas in the spring of 2013.
At first I was a little intimidated and felt like I was never going to grasp some of the workouts. I made a point to show up on the days where I knew I’d be pushed and in turn some of my most hated workouts became my favorite workouts. The coaches and athletes are all so supportive and encouraging.
Within the last six months I’ve started taking advantage of all the tips & tools that the coaching team/gym provides. I am recording my workouts and doing the math. I am seeing gains and improvement with my form. I may not be the fastest, the strongest, or the fittest in the room… but I am becoming the fastest, the strongest, and the fittest that I have ever been. I am my # 1 competition and I continue to beat myself regularly with a great group of people at CrossFit Manassas, cheering me on. It is such an awesome feeling.
CrossFit Manassas provides you with all of the tools necessary to have you on the road to functional fitness, feeing healthier and performing better. The first step in your journey is joining; the second step is showing up. The rest will follow…”
