Our CrossFit FAQ page is meant to help you get started. It is by no means an exhaustive source of information. Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail if you have questions or concerns that are not answered below.

Before You Start

Things to ease your mind…

No. That’s what we are here for. To get you in shape. We will teach you everything you need to get started in our intro program. From there all it takes is a willingness to work hard and achieve.
We offer world class training wrapped up in a life changing program. All it takes to succeed is:

  • Train at LEAST 3 days a week.
  • Be willing to learn.
  • Always give your best effort.
Yes and no. The workouts are hard but they can be scaled to any individual’s level. This keeps the intensity relative to anyone’s ability. Anyone can do CrossFit.
Yes. There are 2 private, full size showers. They are stocked with shampoo, conditioner and bodywash. We do not provide towels.
Numerous clients of ours have come through the doors with previous injuries or tweaks and found relief from the pain by strengthening the muscles around the problem area. All to often people neglect exercising their low back due to fear of injury. Because of this they end up de-conditioned, weak, and more susceptible to injury in the future from minor mishaps which is usually what happens. Taking part in CrossFit will provide you a buffer so that you are less susceptible to these kinds of injuries. The movements and workouts are all completely scalable allowing anyone to take part.
In order for people to get bigger (especially women) you would have to lift heavy weight on a frequent basis and eat an extremely high calorie diet.  We lift weights as part of our program to develop strength, build bone density, and contribute to a toned, balanced appearance.
You can injure yourself in any activity, but CrossFit is more safe than many activities people perform every day. We like to work with people in 3 stages. First: mechanics (learning how to do the movements with correct technique), Second: Consistency (the ability to do the movements over and over again with safe and relatively efficient technique), Third: Intensity (the speed at which you do the movements). One does not come before the other. We always start with Mechanics.  Safety is the first pillar of training at CrossFit Manassas!
Our rates are actually less expensive than any other group led workout programs in our local area. The reality is with the quality of instruction you get from our trainers, it is personal training at a fraction of the cost.

Training Starts Here

Water, appropriate footwear, athletic clothing, a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard. Please arrive a few minutes early, a 5-10 minute cushion will allow you to store your keys, use the restroom, say hello, etc. We start class on the hour.
If you are CrossFit Level 1 Certified, bring in proof of your certification. If you are already familiar with CrossFit methodologies and have trained in another affiliate, you can test into classes. Just call or email us to set up your test-in appointment.
We allow drop ins, before you do; contact us in advance and provide us with information of how long you have been doing CrossFit and where, and that you at least have some basic proficiency with weightlifting and gymnastic movements. Sorry, but we don’t allow training barefoot, or with your shirt off. Drop-ins take part in our regularly scheduled Group Classes. If you have specific programming you follow, you must contact us in advance and discuss your situation. Short term Drop in fee is $25. If you’re going to want to grab more than three workouts, come talk to us about your situation.
Our programming will allow you to see progression in your strength, conditioning, and skill sets.  We also program to develop capabilities in all of your athletic domains.  If you want to know more about or philosophy on good programming you can click here to read more.
You could just follow our blog, but you would not get the benefit of instruction from our trainers. Most people are not taught how to move correctly and don’t know how to teach themselves. You are automatically making yourself more susceptible to injury and leveling off in your gains by trying to do this on your own. It is also more fun when you are encouraged and held accountable by a group of your peers. Plus you won’t have someone cheering you on in your basement or local gym, like you will have at our gym.
