You know what’s awesome about Elliott, is that he never has a bad day. Now, obviously that’s not true, but what is true is that if he does have a bad day, he never brings it into the gym. Elliott is all smiles when he walks in, and he’s greeting everyone in class and asking them if they’re excited for whatever insanity we’re about to do. It’s safe to say that everyone in class has a better time because he’s there. At the same time, Elliott is a hard worker, knows his numbers, and isn’t afraid to work for ambitious goals. It is a pleasure both to coach Elliott, and have him as a teammate. – Coach Blaze

Who are you? Are you a mother, father, firefighter, Soldier?
I am a husband, a father, a son, a brother. I am an engineer (Yeah math and physics that stuff).

How did you get into CrossFit and how has it changed things in your life?
I got into Crossfit by chance; I had a friend who is a trainer, so I asked him what I should be doing for exercise. I told him I was thinking about Crossfit and he was like “Dude that is the only way to go”.
Come to find out he was totally right, CrossFit has made a great impact in my life. I was very concerned about having children and not being in shape to keep up with them as they grew up. I didn’t want to be that Dad on the sideline that couldn’t get out there and help his kids on the field. The changes I have seen other than strength has to be the flexibility, I didn’t realize how much more strength I could gain simply by having more mobility. Another aspect of CrossFit that keeps me engaged is the ability to track not only my WOD’s but my progress, being an engineer graphs, charts and data make me happy.


What benefits do you see in the real world from your time in the gym and with your CrossFit tribe?
The benefits; other than the obvious health benefits has to be the fitness. Simple tasks of moving furniture, bring the groceries up the stairs (live on the 3rd floor, it is its own WOD) are now a simple task and I am no longer out of breath. I have gained new friendships with my “CrossFit tribe” it is a great community, it is amazing the support that this group provides, from the coaches to the members, it is a great atmosphere.

Why does coming to class matter to you?
Coming to class is key, I could CrossFit by myself, but I know I wouldn’t push myself like my coaches and teammates do. Everyone jokes about their specific time class is the best, and no matter which class you go to you are welcomed and supported.


What are your goals as an athlete?
My goal as an athlete is to qualify for the CrossFit Games Regionals. Sometimes I think that is too lofty of a goal, but the coaches are very supportive, they help identify what I will need to do to accomplish that goal. Now the ownership is on me to commit to the task and execute.

Lift: Clean and Jerk
